[ he was definitely sitting but he's also like, a brick wall of muscle, the shove does nothing except put hanako in range of getting gently shoved back ]
Yeah, kinda! [ SHAMELESS ] I'm part of a huge crew, so I've gotten pretty good at guessing, though.
Thanks? [ it wasn't a compliment probably. ace looks over at the straw pile and laughs ] This isn't for enemies. I've got plenty of those, though. Nah, I'm going to use the straw to make a hat.
Craft something. [ and then he laughs because he seems to recognize-- ] You've got no idea what Wano is, don't say it so weirdly. It's an island back home.
[ everything can be an island if you're generous about how large it can be ]
Geography wasn't my best subject back in school!
[ his grades sucked for the most part, but he's not here to talk about that. He's here to pick up the little pieces of straw that are too short to weave into a hat, and start tying up little bundles too ]
Don't worry too much about it. I've never even been to school.
[ that's why he's an idiot. ace keeps collecting straw for now, but he'll start building soon ]
So, Wano's a country that's not affiliated with the Government. They've actually completely isolated themselves from the world-- no one is supposed to come in or out of it. I wound up there sort of by accident in the first place.
... Well, we did get shipwrecked. [ WOOPS ] But we had a lot of food on our ship, and the villagers that found us had been going through a famine, so they tied us up and went at it. [ he laughs a little ] I didn't terrorize the locals, but I did freak them out when I burned out of the ropes when they were done.
No? I mean, if I wanted to do that, I would've gotten out of the ropes earlier. [ he truly could've burned out anytime ] I can get food whenever I want now, but these guys were starving. Better for them to have it than all die.
A kid from the village is the one who taught me how to make these hats as thanks.
The way to reach Wano is treacherous, that's why most people don't come in. They can't really get fish from the ocean nearby. [ anyway don't worry the twist is this: ] ...A while ago, a pirate took over the country. The stuff he's doing is poisoning the land and the water around. That's why there was a famine. He's a tyrant. I was actually in the area to take his head--well, I probably would've gotten killed back then, but he wasn't on the island while I was.
The guy's unhinged. He's kept his son prisoner and making sure he never leaves the island by putting exploding handcuffs on him. If he ever goes too far or tries to take them off, he's dead.
[ that get him later though... ace looks a little guilty and a lot angry as he sighs ]
I haven't yet. I tried to argue with Whitebeard, but he said that guy's got an army with him and I'd just get a lot of the people on the island killed just going at it wildly.
[ by his face it is probably obvious to tell this was not a one off argument ]

You could've. And then I would've known it was you anyway!

Let me guess: you got ship wrecked and drifted ashore. And then you rose from the ocean covered in mud and seaweed, terrorizing the locals, and...

And then you took revenge on them for stealing your supplies!

He keeps waiting for the plot twist, but one never comes. A happy ending... wild. ]
What happened to all the fish in the water? It's hard to imagine people on an island going hungry.

What's the point of taking over a country if you're going to kill everybody in it? You'd better have got him later.

If I could go there, I'd pop in and give him a good stab. [ a stab, and a twist, and then a couple more stabs ] It's not like they can kill me.
