He seems kind of...unreliable? Like a figurehead. Also, Snake told me the person the team leaders talk to is someone whose face they haven't seen.

I never heard about that... Mouse told me there was no leaders among the leaders. So they lied to me.

...I'm not sure they lied, Hanako. Snake never described this person as their leader. Just someone they get information from, like the information about this competition. It's my speculation that this is a person calling the shots.

[please unflare your murder aura.]

Anyway, all I know is that they're getting this shady info from someone they've never actually met, and that in the past they've been pretty reasonable, but suddenly started being really unreasonable around the time we showed up. So it seems pretty suspicious to me.

Why listen to this person at all, if they're suddenly so different? It's not like the leaders have to, unless they can't disobey. Like... if this person is the one threatening everybody's homes.

I don't know. I think they got good intel from this person before, and didn't expect them to start being so difficult. It's possible they just made a mistake and trusted in the wrong person.

That "intel" had better not be the promise that our worlds are frozen without us there. I never did get proof, after asking the leaders about that.

I don't think any of their intel has been trustworthy. And it's fine to be angry at them for that, because this situation is cruel and they have claimed to be responsible for us but haven't stepped up and have only failed to predict how bad it was going to get. But I don't think Mouse has done anything to hurt you on purpose, you know?

...mm. Mouse has only ever been good to me. Like... like a friend.

Yeah. I don't know all the leaders, but I don't think Mouse is a bad guy.

What's Snake like?

Smart. Pretty reliable. Thinks things through. Not someone who's going to run off and start stabbing people without a plan.

Look, that might be true, but that doesn't mean that there aren't things that are dangerous to you.
