[ Hanako catches Rita outside the courthouse sometime soon after the trial, hanging around like he wants to say "I told you so" but not wanting to get punched in the face again for it ]

[ yeah, he knows anger, and doesn't believe it a single bit ]

...me too. I'm going to throttle a reason out of him. He can't get away from it by dying tomorrow.

[glancing at him, like she's trying to get a measure of his mood.]

You're that pissed off at him?

[ it's murderous, fam, ]

... Yeah.

It's bad enough that he killed her. But the way he acted like it was all a joke... that's unforgivable.

[hanaban]

[ Hanako nods, because that's what gets him most of all. He'd asked Argalia for a reason— any reason, made up or not— and he couldn't even provide more than a "because I could" ]

...it was senseless...And to the end, he denied having done anything to Norma.

[ that's... another one of his lies, isn't it? because otherwise... ]

w3, saturday

[hanaban]

[ Ryuki carried Hanako off to the hospital immediately after trial, but it only took another hour or two for the drug to wear off and for Hanako to regain consciousness again. He looks fine, now, IV drip attached to his wrist that he keeps trying to pull his sleeves down over. He's still not used to a physical body... did you know, you have to feed and take care of bodies... ]

[ Well. She'll come stand in the doorway, glancing inside. ]

You still alive in there?

[hanaban]

[ There's a little panicked glance her way before he fixes his stare at his lap, silent for a moment like he's contemplating just not answering her. ]

...I'm alive.

[ unfortunately ]

[rizomata]

[ ... well, she'll come in and take a look at him. ]

It was pretty dumb to volunteer for that, considering your size.

[hanaban]

[ he's dying, don't come in here and start scolding him?? ]

Size doesn't matter! He said it would only knock somebody unconscious for a while.

[ And he believed him. god I wish it were actually lethal instead ]

Yeah, and that toxin's meant to work on bigger opponents, so even if he told the truth, the risk was higher for you. Dumbass.

[ she's absolutely just coming in here and scolding him. ]

... But I guess we're both idiots for believing anything he said, so there's that.

[hanaban]

[ He's only a couple inches shorter than everybody else... It'd knocked him out instantly, so maybe for Whisper... maybe she died instantly, and didn't have to go through everything that followed.

He pulls his knees up to his chest and buries his face against them. ]

...I heard everybody voted for him. But are you sure he did it...?

[ Rita's his teammate. Maybe she'll defend him, maybe everybody else is just wrong. ]

... Yeah, he did it. There's no question.

The evidence was decisive, the idiot admitted to it, and he even went on to make a whole circus out of the situation. Frankly, you're lucky you were unconscious for it.

Week 4, Monday

[ While Hanako is out in the city, he and Rita turn a corner and end up right in each other's way.

And before they can walk away from each other, there's a memory that plays! Too bad. ]

[ Hanako startles, seeing Rita amongst a group of strangers who somehow manage to make her look normal. ]

[ looks at her hands, looks away. It would've been so funny if this memory abruptly cut off right after she set Karol on fire ]

What... the memory? It's just something stupid that started happening today. You should probably ignore it.

It's kind of hard to ignore something when it's got your face on it...

[ it's too late for this one, but he is definitely going to break these things whenever they pop up, don't look at them ]

[ it wasn't even that bad of a memory. ]

[ It's so tame compared to the others he'd been seeing, but that just makes him... curious... ]
