[ Hello... it's early Tuesday morning and Hanako is waiting outside the Fox dorms, just sort of milling around the front door, fidgety, occasionally trying to hop high enough to see through the upper story windows.

Does Ponta even sleep in the dorm? he's sort of banking on it, otherwise he's going to be wasting the entire day waiting for somebody who isn't even there ]

[ Luckily Hanako has made a reasonable assumption and it is paying off. Ponta does indeed stay in Fox dorm and he's also an early riser. Spending most of the day outdoors is just second nature to him, so Hanako won't waste away in front of the door waiting.

Ponta is kind of confused to come out and find him there though, hopping to their windows... Cute. But why? ]

Did you need to speak to one of us?

[hanaban]

[ Hanako startles and stumbles backwards from the window, like he'd been caught peeping ]

Um! I was actually looking for you! If you're not busy sometime this week...

It's... actually kinda hard to have a booked schedule in this place, I'd say.

[ They're supposed to be heroes and doing community service and stuff, but it's hardly scheduled... ]

What's up?

I was thinking about the onigiri you made over the weekend. Do you know how to make other things? Like cookies?

[ please there isn't even a stocked fridge in his dorm, just a pile of take out menus]

w2, sunday

[ sneaking around trying to see if he can catch Ponta unawares and jumpscare him from around a building corner or from inside of an empty trash can or something ]

[ So you know how in the first week Ponta was always clumsy to the point of accident-prone? This is not the case now. Hanako jumps out and instead of startling at all, Ponta just easily sidesteps him - almost absent-mindedly, really. Like it's instinct. ]

... ah. Did you want something?

[hanaban]

[ untying his hair gave him a power boost, icic

Hanako gets to tip over the trash can, roll several meters before being able to extract himself from the can, and wobble back to where Ponta is ]

I did! But man, I thought you'd be more off guard.

[bottleking]

[ Ponta gives a shrug at that. ]

I'm not really in the mood for that, after this whole mess.

[ Because getting startled is something he has to be 'in the mood for' apparently. ]

[ ....... it's not often that Hanako gets hit with the realization that maybe he's the one being unreasonable. not? in the mood?? huh.

he shuffles a foot awkwardly, like this is physically painful to say and maybe it is- ]

...sorry. I was just trying to lighten the mood. There's... not much else I can do.

[ he's tried, but he can't stab his way out of his problems in this place. so where does that leave him? ]

w4, Monday

[ Ponta had contemplated going to see Hanako earlier, but with the whole poisoning incident and the whole emotional mess, he figured the boy might be occupied. Now that it's Monday and everyone has had a chance to calm down at least marginally, Ponta flags down Hanako in front of the dorms.

Though he approaches with a wide wave, his smile isn't particularly bright today. ]

Hey! Just who I wanted to see! You back in your feet? No ill effects left?

[hanaban]

[ You ever hear somebody go "hey, I wanted to talk to you" and immediately go "oh no"

A thousand potential crimes whirl through Hanako's head for a moment before he waves them aside and smiles for Ponta. ]

Yep, I'm all better now! Better than before, actually. We couldn't really explain the whole needle thing to the doctors, so they concluded that I fell unconscious because my diet was garbage.

Is it? Nobody in Mouse dorm cooks?

[ ... he wanted to talk about the trial and all that, but he is easily distracted by questions of food. ]

Eh... Will asked me that same question.

[ And then lamented their lack of H*llo Fr*sh in the city ]

We've got like ice cream and stuff in the freezer? And take out menus.

... that's hideous.

[ THIS IS WHY THE MICE ARE SUFFERING SO MUCH. THE REASON HAS BEEN FOUND. ]

Like, not that I don't love ice cream and snacks, but... I'm gonna bring you guys something nice every once in a while. Not like I have much else to do than cook.

W5, Tuesday

[ Hi Hanako, today we are at the Zoo, looking at the penguin enclosure where a confused prinny appears to make a desperate attempt at communicating with his 'fellow doodz'. ]

Strange to see one of them next to the real deal... wait, no. Next to penguins as I know them. Can't really say one is more real than the other, huh?

[hanaban]

[ This is the true zoo going experience, clutching a map of the campus and marking off which animals they've seen, except that instead of being asleep and hiding, most of the animals are just still missing. ]

Mouse doesn't think they're real, but also wouldn't let me test to see if they're flammable.

[ something something be kind to the prinnies ]

[ 'Missing' is a generous term for 'possibly eaten', let's go with that. ]

Would being flammable point towards or against being real?

[ How easy is it to set a regular penguin on fire, anyway? ]

And what does Mouse think they are?

I think they said something about being made of plush and fabric... and some special substance from the underworld... I don't think they know either.

[ pspspsps Hanako slips his fingers through the caging, trying to entice a penguin over so they can see for sure ]

Toy animals are flammable, but I think penguins might be as well? Because of all the oil on their feathers, and the fat that keeps them warm.

[ The prinnies being magically animated plushies is... honestly a lot simpler of a theory than any weird evolutionary ideas Ponta came up with through the weeks...

So the peg legs aren't hooves...

Anyway... ]

I mean, I think any animal is flammable when it comes down to it, it's just kind of a question of how much heat it takes.

W7 Wednesday

[ This morning, whenever Hanako leaves mouse dorm, he'll hear a voice call out to him. ]

Hanako.

[ He will also feel a lot of cold anger radiate as... Has Ponta always been there, blocking his way back into the dorm? Boy, he sure can walk quietly when he wants to... ]

Why?

[ I can't remember if Mouse dorm has a door but if it did Hanako would be slamming it in Ponta's face on reflex ]

Hi Ponta. There's... so much you could be referring to.

[ he's done so many crimes, and has a pretty good idea what Ponta's furious about but just in case maybe he doesn't want yet another Crime Confession Hour. ]

[ That is... a good point. Hanako's body count list is maybe a little too long for a normal person's comfort, but fortunately Ponta is not exactly normal in that regard. ]

Vane. And Will. Why them?

[ Sorry to Danny who also died like... just this week, but that's Hanako's deal. He can kill Danny if he wants. ]

[ adsflkjh how Ponta looks over at Danny like "not my fox, not my problem" ]

I chose Vane because I like him, but I had nothing to do with Will! He was with you and Vane, wasn't he?

[ sure he voted for Will seven times but Will was still guilty ]

Sure, Will killing me was my idea. But he shouldn't have had to be executed for it. Especially not because of one person's skewed votes.

[ Will survived the execution but that's not the point. Him being guilty is also not the point, it doesn't count if there's consent!! ... probably.

The Vane thing though... The rage eases up a little, only because confusion settles in instead. ]

And how on earth does liking someone translate to killing them?
